Monumental Art

I have long been intrigued by the notion that art doesn’t have to be large in scale to be monumental in feel and that  small-scale objects or pictures can pack a hefty punch. Never to be forgotten was a small, compelling painting which I saw at the BP Portrait Award 2011.  It was Tomas Georgeson’s ‘Portrait of  My Father’ (300 x 230 mm) – a small gem amongst the giants http://www.npg.org.uk/whatson/exhibitions/bp-portrait-award-2011/the-exhibition/exhibitors/bp-exhibitor-21.php.
